Description

The University will invest in new teaching and quiet study space with a new 2,600m2 extension. The new four floor extension on the west wing south elevation (Library Avenue) will provide flexible space for teaching, informal study and student's societies on the lower ground floor. The other three floors will be additional library space with a mix of quiet study space and meeting rooms. The building must target an EPC Grade A rating. The University seeks to appoint a Contractor for these works to fulfil both Principal Contractor and Principal Designer responsibilities under the CDM regulations 2015. It is anticipated that the contractor will mobilise in early October 2019 and complete the project by 4th December 2020.
Intended tender method: Single Stage Design & Build. Fixed lump sum to be invited under Closed Tender on the basis of RIBA Stage 4 design information, utilising the JCT D&B 2016 form of contract with Lancaster University's Special Conditions. The University will publish documents 10.04.19 (target) inviting formal Expressions Of Interest (EOI) in the project before running a Closed Tender across July and August 2019 (target). The EOI documentation will be published on In-Tend (details below) and will include RIBA Stage 2 and programme information, and a copy of the University's Special Conditions.
