Description

Approximately 30 Independent pharmacies are contracted to deliver confidential needle and syringe exchange services to injecting drug users as part of the initiative to prevent the spread of blood borne viruses and attract and engage problem drug users into recovery services. Safe and secure sharps disposal is vital to eliminate the risks that come with handling and managing sharps waste Incorrectly controlled sharps bin waste obviously pose a serious health risk to anyone who handles them, be it through cuts, infection or blood borne viruses which are often left on needles, syringes or other sharps waste This contract is for provision of a clinical waste collection service from those pharmacies across Cornwall who participate in delivering Pharmacy Needle and Syringe Exchange. The service will issue compliant and secure clinical waste bins and collect them on request, when full, providing a safe and reliable disposal service that is professional, convenient and meets the required legislation.
