Description

During the calendar year of 2019, the Staffordshire University Academies Trust will be procuring a design and build project on behalf of one of its primary academies, based in Huntington, Staffordshire.

The purpose of this prior information notice is to ascertain levels of interest from building and construction enterprises in tendering for this project. The estimated value of the build is between £170,000 - £200,000; the aim date for project completion is December 2019.

The nature of the project is that of an extension to a modular building which is currently used as an Early Years Educational setting, in situ within the academy's grounds. The current modular building consists of horizontal redwood pine timber cladding with a 25 degree pitched roof and western red cedar shingles, windows with low E glazing and UPVC guttering to the fascia line. The modular building extension will also require the successful contractor to supply and install an external canopy for use as an outdoor educational facility, attached to the existing build and extension.

The academy values the quality and aesthetics of the existing modular structure which has been constructed in alignment with the theme of the main academy building and surroundings; prospective tenderers will be required to meet such specifications for the build.

The tender documentation will stipulate certain mandatory requirements whereby the successful contractor will be required to support with and manage elements of the project such as grounds surveys, highways surveys, planning permissions, obligations in relation to CDM 2015, building regulations and other such legal requirements to which the project may be reliant.

The date for the release of the tender documentation is late May 2019. Contractors who wish to register their interest may do so by contacting hkirkham@suatrust.co.uk.
