Description
On the 24/09/2021 Somerset West and Taunton Council expects to advertise a Contract opportunity to appoint an extensively experience specialist conservation/heritage contractor to assist in the design, and to deliver, the next phase(s) of work associated with the renovation of the Toneworks Site. These two phases of work are primarily focused on repairs to the roof structures. In summary the phases comprise:
Phase 1 - Roof repairs to sections V & T.
Phase 2 - Potential roof repairs to other sections (subject to adequate funding)
To meet this requirements of the funding agreements it is essential that approximately 50% of the budget will be completed, valued and invoiced by 15/03/2022. The works contract will therefore be based on sectional completion. The remaining 50% of the budget will be subject to a second section completion/valuation which can be completed after this date.
This notice is intended to give potential contractors some advance notice of the upcoming opportunity as the period for the completion and return of tenders will be limited to 28 days to enable the funding criteria outline above to be achieved.
Due to the complexities of the site the full scope and methodology of the phase 1 roofing works have not yet been fully formed. The Contractor will constructively contribute, as part of the design team, to the design and construction methodology of the phase 1 work, adding value and ensuring the maximum amount of phase 1 and phase 2 work is deliverable within the currently available budget. The contract will be a two stage award with the initial award being limited to collaboration in the deign under JCT PCSA 2016. It is expected that the PCSA contract will commence as soon as possible after appointment with a site works commencing on the 4th of January 2022.
