Description
Review of SEND Transport at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council
The LAs SEND Transport budget is significantly overspent. An adjusted base budget has been agreed for 2021/22.
A SEND Transport Programme Board is in place, chaired by the Director of Education. The Board has achieved good progress and has worked in partnership with other West Midlands LAs and Transport for West Midlands to interrogate current arrangements and a detailed report has been produced.
A range of service transformation and savings plans have been developed for implementation after public consultation later this year.
The council is seeking an independent review of the transformation and savings plans that have been prepared to provide assurance and identify whether there are further options that have not yet been explored that would provide a service that satisfies service user needs and realise additional savings.
The maximum budget available for this project is £30,000.
