Description
The Navy Fleet has fully equipped laundry facilities onboard its Major Surface Ships. The requirement is for the provision of a fully managed laundry service providing flexibility, resilience
and continuity of service while deployed overseas and ashore.
The items that require laundering include Service clothing, personal protective items (PPE) and items required to be used in connection with Service duties (Crown laundry) which includes galley staff clothing/linen, sickbay items, mess furnishings and departmental specialist and sports clothing. Items will need to be laundered in line with the manufacturers care labels.
There are approximately 2000-3000 of personal items laundered on a monthly basis across the Fleet for individuals and approximately 65000 (65K) items submitted by departments each month.
As well as carrying out the laundry service responsibilities, The contractor will be responsible for cleaning and securing the allocated laundry facilities and compartment, ensuring that they are
maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all time.
All contractor personnel on board Major Surface Ships for this requirement must hold valid SC clearance at contract commencement and this must remain valid for contract duration.
The potential contract duration will be for a three year period with two additional one year optionsavailable should they be required.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) will host this event on Monday 2nd November 2020 at 10:00am.
The event will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. The purpose of this event is to provide industry with further information on the requirement and to help build a final specification to take to market.
This event will comprise of a short presentation, Q&A session and the opportunity for short 15 minute 1-2-1 sessions with the project team. It is our expectation that this will have completed by 12:30.
