Description

This contract is part of our ERDF Wild Towns Project (part funded through the European Regional development Fund), improving wildlife habitats and connectivity within 7 Gloucestershire towns. The infrastructure (paths, footbridges, fences, sensory garden and concrete removal) within this contract will play a crucial role in helping people to access these improved habitats. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust are the lead partner, with Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group South West, Severn Trent Water and Severn Rivers Trust as delivery partners.

The successful applicant will meet the following objectives in Gloucestershire:


Install an accessible riverside path in Fairford (April/June 2019), to the detailed brief in the link provided, pending a licence from Natural England.


Install three footpaths in Queen Victoria Gardens in Moreton in Marsh, in close collaboration with Moreton in Marsh Town Council.

Install one footpath at City Bank in Cirencester.



Create an ambitious people and wildlife-friendly sensory garden in Fairford's Walnut Tree Field.




Install one footbridge over the Cinderford Brook at Linear Park in Cinderford, in collaboration with the Forestry Commission.

Adapt and widen an existing footbridge at City Bank in Cirencester, in collaboration with Cirencester Town Council.




Install a 120m boundary fence along one side of the upper cemetery in Moreton in Marsh, including any necessary vegetation work outside the bird nesting season.


Suitable replacement fencing at Wharfdale Way playground and parking site in Stonehouse (40m and 125m).


Post and rail fencing along 30m of boardwalk at the Court View newt ponds in Stonehouse.



Concrete removal and disposal, landscaping (topsoil and turf) at Wharfdale Way parking site in Stonehouse, in close collaboration with Stroud District Council and sensitive to the outcomes of an ongoing public consultation.




8 natural-looking benches or carved seating logs installed in Stroud, Stonehouse, Fairford and Moreton-in-Marsh.




Ensure that temporary signage that meets ERDF branding guidelines is installed at each site for the duration of all works.
