Description
NHS England South (South West) (the Commissioner) seeks to commission a School Aged Immunisation Service for Cornwall. This procurement is being carried out by NHS South, Central & West Commissioning Support Unit on behalf of the Commissioners. This call for competition is initially published as a notice for expressions of interest. The Commissioner may then choose to proceed to publish tender documents to parties who have responded to the notice and there shall be no further notice published. Providers must express an interest by 12 Noon 14th Aug 2018. Any procurement will be based on an open procedure. Interested providers will be able to view the tender opportunity via the 'current tenders' list the In-Tend website. https://in-tendhost.co.uk/scwcsu/aspx/Home In order to participate in this procurement providers will need to 'express an interest' and register on the system. NHS England South (South West) seeks to commission a School Aged Immunisation Service in Cornwall. The scheduled school-aged immunisation programmes are based on age-related cohorts. The immunisations for each eligible cohort will be carried out within a school calendar year according to the detail of the service specification.
The main aims of the service will be to:
• Offer all eligible children the opportunity to receive the nationally defined immunisation schedule
• Deliver uptake and coverage targets for each scheduled immunisation programme within scope, each year in line with national guidance, standards and the service specification
• Ensure safe processes are in place for the storage, transportation and giving of immunisations
• Work proactively with schools to ensure access, promotion of uptake and smooth delivery arrangements
• Provide accessible catch up opportunities within communities for the scheduled programmes
• Proactively address potential barriers to engagement to maximise uptake with a specific emphasis on those less likely to engage, disadvantaged groups and those outside of the education system.
• Maximise the use of technology to support the provision of age appropriate, clear and understandable information to enable parents and children to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing
• Work with service users and key stakeholders to constantly and innovatively improve service delivery
• Make "every contact count"
• Provide full support and assistance in response to outbreaks and pandemic situations
The school aged immunisation programmes to be provided by the service are:
• Childhood Influenza (seasonal flu for primary aged children and those in special schools)
• Meningococcal groups ACWY (MenACWY)
• Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (Teenage Booster)
• Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
The contract is due to run for 4 years commencing on 1st June 2019 and ending on 31st May 2023. The estimated contract value is £445,000 per contract year. This value includes an allocation for the extension of the Influenza cohort to year 6 pupils in 2019/20.
