Description
Hoe Valley School is a 4FE co-ed secondary free school which opened in September 2015 in temporary modular building accommodation with 90 pupils. The roll has since grown to 103, and the PAN is 120. It is at PAN for the new intake in September 2016 with a waiting list. The permanent accommodation for the school is anticipated to be ready in 2018, consequently additional temporary modular building accommodation for 120 pupils is required.
Currently the school is located on Woking Park off Kingfield Road in Woking. The site originally formed a portion of a car park to the nearby Woking Leisure Centre. To allow for the new temporary modular building accommodation for the school, additional land from the carpark has been allocated.
A key aspiration is for the school to be able to deliver the full curriculum on site, within one enclosed area. There are two existing blocks and an administration block on the site. It is proposed that a new administration block is provided on the new land to form a street facing entry point to the school campus and the provision of a third teaching block to accommodate 120 pupils. The third teaching block will be required to accommodate 3rd Year GCSE specialist subjects such as DT and science.
The site allocated to the school is on made up ground to a depth of 15 metres so a foundations design solution will be required to accommodate the proposed modular temporary school building/s. In addition to ground works and the provision of power, water and drainage/sewage to the site, there is a requirement for 360 external lockers and additional bicycle and scooter racks.
