Description

Crawley Borough Council are seeking to regenerate Crawley Town Centre and a number of locations in the centre have been identified as priorities for investment in the public space. To facilitate this regeneration, the Council have put together the Crawley Town Centre Regeneration Programme, which comprises three phases to improve the public realm in and around the town centre. The key objectives of this regeneration programme are to:
 Create an excellent public realm
 Diversify the retail and business offer
 Encourage dynamic business growth
 Create a high quality town centre with a rich mix of business use

The Regeneration Programme consists of three phases which are:
 Phase 1 - Queens Square
 Phase 2 - Queensway and the Pavement
 Phase 3 - Station Gateway
Crawley Borough Council, West Sussex County Council and the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership worked together to deliver Phase 1 which was the regeneration of Queens Square. This improvement scheme has transformed the Square into a high quality, distinctive and enjoyable public space by installing a new water feature, new paving, planting, lighting and seating and was completed in the autumn of 2017.

Phase 2 covers Queensway and the Pavement and the aspirations for this phase are to build on the model of Queens Square and maintain the distinctive aesthetic appearance across these principal connector streets. Queensway extends eastward from Queens Square towards College Road and partly runs adjacent to the Memorial Gardens. The Pavement is a side street running from Queensway to a car park adjacent to the Boulevard.

Crawley Borough Council and West Sussex County Council are promoting the scheme and are inviting tenders for the construction of the Phase 2 works. The contract is being let and managed by Crawley Borough Council and as such, the Council is conducting an open process under the local tender route.
