START DATE: 04.05.22

DATE RESPONSE REQUIRED: 20.05.22

Dear Potential Provider,

We would like to notify you of a potential upcoming requirement, and by doing so we are keen to understand where the market stands in terms of our requirement below.

This Request for Information (RFI) seeks information relating to the provision of introducer needles, which the Authority requires for use at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC).

CURRENT SITUATION
1. The aim of Defence Rehabilitation is to provide access to musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment and treatment, with optimal recovery time frames for referred personnel and maximising military force generation. Integral to this is the ability to provide evidence-based management of MSK injury and conditions within the care pathways and their accepted timeframes. These guidelines are founded upon treatment and management strategies to ensure optimal recovery.
2. Multidisciplinary Injury Assessment Clinics (MIAC) are held at DMRC Stanford Hall (SH). Their function is to provide SME input to assess and triage orthopaedic and complex rehabilitation cases and to provide advanced treatments where clinically indicated. They are staffed by experienced band 7 physiotherapists and doctors with specialist qualifications in Sport and Exercise Medicine. For those presenting with exercise induced lower leg pain, MRI of the lumbar spine and bilateral lower legs are requested to rule out a structural cause of symptoms.
3. If MRI imaging does not identify a structural pathology to explain service personnel exercise induced leg pain symptoms, and their symptoms are consistent with chronic exertional compartment syndrome pressure testing is the next stage of investigation. This capability is essential to the defence rehabilitation mission to return injured service personnel to duty in the safest and shortest possible time frame.

4. The Contractor is to provide:

A single use, disposable breakaway or split able needle is required as an introducer for the micro tip pressure catheter which has tip size 3.5F. It should be approx. 5cm in length.
