Funding Description

European Territorial Cooperation (ETC), better known as Interreg, provides a framework for the implementation of joint actions and policy exchanges between national, regional and local actors from the 28 different European Union Member States. The overarching objective of European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) is to promote a harmonious economic, social and territorial development of the Union as a whole. Interreg is built around three strands of cooperation: cross-border (Interreg A), transnational (Interreg B) and interregional (Interreg C). The funding is provided by the European Commission; the Programmes are managed by Member States.

SLIC (Smart Light Concepts) Is a co-funded Interreg 2 Seas project applying innovative smart technologies to street lighting in a way that maximizes the reduction in CO2 emissions. Avans University of Applied Sciences (NL) is Lead Beneficiary. The other partners are: Etten-Leur municipality (NL), University of Portsmouth (UK), Suffolk County Council (UK), Amiens Metropole (FR), City of Bruges (BL), West Flanders Intermunicipal Association (BL), IGEMO (BL), and Province of West Flanders (BL). The total funding for the entire project (all partners) is €3,533,659. The total project budget for Suffolk County Council is €252,810.
