Description

Urgent repair works to prevent further decay of the building fabric and structure included but not limited to the following:
• Roof repairs including re-roofing
• Masonry repairs including repointing and creating shed off pathways
• Treatment or removal of embedded steelwork
• Treatment, repair and redecoration of timber elements
• Treatment and repair of embedded metalwork and fixings
• Vegetation removal
• Treatment of render to headgear columns
• Improvement of internal ventilation
• Replacement of existing fan heaters
• General servicing of equipment
• Re-lamp existing light fittings
• Upgrade emergency lighting to comply with current regulations
• Service fire alarm and replace detectors on point for point basis
• In-situ protections of retained fixtures and equipment

Due to the nature of the works and the site contractors must be able to evidence experience of the following key skills as part of the selection process: • experience of works on Grade I / Scheduled Ancient Monument building or structure
• experience of repair and restoration of historic buildings that involved working with Historic England as a key stakeholder
• experience of works linked with Industrial heritage
• experience of specialist joinery and masonry repair
• experience of external metal work repair
• experience of working with an archaeological watching brief and/or ecological mitigation strategy;
• experience of providing training in heritage construction skills or similar initiatives.
