Description

The A605 between Whittlesey and Peterborough carries over 14,000 vehicles per day and there are some 120 daily train movements across the level crossing that crosses the road. The resulting closure of the King's Dyke level crossing barrier causes significant delay to traffic.

The project, to bypass the level crossing has been a priority for Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) for a number of years. It has planning approval, the land is acquired and the detailed design phase has just been completed.

On 15th August 2019, CCC's Economy & Environment Committee approved the procurement for a contractor to deliver this high profile project.

CCC will host a market engagement event near Cambridge on the morning of 10th September 2019. At the event, representatives of the council will present the project and invite questions and feedback from attendees.

Organisations that wish to attend the event are requested to confirm their interest in attending to Thomas.porter@Cambridgeshire.gov.uk by Thursday 5th September.

CCC intend to proceed to procurement in accordance with the following indicative timescales:

• Market engagement event - 10th September 2019
• Commence procurement - end of September 2019
• Contract award - Summer 2020

However, CCC make no guarantees that this PIN and market engagement will be followed with a Contract Notice or Tender.
