Description

The University of Sheffield is out to tender on behalf of the Department of the AMRC IMG group for a Connected, mobile robot (quadruped).

Scope of Requirement:

The AMRC IMG group has a requirement for an autonomous, connected, mobile robot which can traverse environments such as train depots or busy factories. The robotic solution will be a quadruped, owing to the increased versatility afforded by this architecture, and the interest expressed by the AMRC's partners in the use of this type of robot. It will be used on projects that work with both academia and industry to deliver cutting edge research into manufacturing robotics.

The robot will act as a platform for investigations into the use of 5G in an industrial setting, in the context of mobile robots. It is therefore important that the system should arrive equipped with 5G functionality, such that research can be conducted into how best to employ the technology for a range of applications, including control, mapping, fleet management and condition monitoring.

The platform will be used for the development and testing of a large variety of use cases for novel applications. It is therefore important that the robot comes with communications interfaces, mounting points and a 24V power supply.

The full technical specification can be found in the tender documentation which will be sent to you once you have expressed your interest.
