Description

Advocacy Service 2022-24

Aims

To provide an advocacy service to adults with health and social care needs (comprising adults with learning difficulties, mental health problems, physical and sensory, autistic spectrum conditions and older people) living in the City, which adheres to the following definition of advocacy:

"Advocacy can be defined as an individual being supported to express views, communicate choices and receive services or participation as a result. It promotes social inclusion and equality".

Outcomes

The service will meet the following key outcomes:

- Residents will be represented and supported to express their views, needs, rights, preferences, and decisions.
- Residents will benefit from a range of approaches to meet different requirements, needs and service user groups
- Residents will have greater understanding of, and involvement in the planning of, their care and support.
- Residents will have greater choice and control over their own lives and the support they receive
- Residents will have greater confidence, capacity and skills to articulate their needs, with or without the assistance of an Advocate.
- Residents and their families will be better equipped to advocate for themselves in the future

The duration of the contract is 2 years, subject to the right of the City (at its sole discretion) to exercise its right to extend the Contract by up to 2 years. The maximum length of the contract is therefore 4 years.
