Milton Keynes Council is considering replacing its scheduling software for the Community Transport service and is seeking expressions of interest. Community transport offers door to door service for users who unable to make use of public transport and many have mobility requirements.
The replacement system will need to support customer and driver information, route planning, dynamic scheduling, advance booking and live cancellations and updates for vehicle data (mileage etc). It will also need to take account of wheelchairs, scooters, shopping trolleys and varying boarding time requirements.
The system will need to include mapping and searching for locations and system users on a variety of fields.
We are seeking a system that is scalable and has adequate flexibility to be extended to support broader council and emergency fleet functions as well as tying in with other services to support vulnerable customers to provide alternative services when needed. For instance, during the current pandemic we might have used such a system to manage additional fleet vehicles and drivers and schedule deliveries of goods to customers rather than collecting the customers.
