Description

The current Test and Itchen groundwater model comprises a groundwater flow model (MODFLOW-96-VKD) and a separate runoff-recharge model (Routing of Rainfall to Runoff and Recharge (4R)). The model was built in 2005 and has been updated a few times during its lifetime.
The main aim of this project is to maintain an up to date tool, using the best techniques and data. In order to do this, we would expect the consultant to: reconceptualise and update the conceptualisation since the original development of the model, update the model data to current date, and update/rebuild the model in MODFLOW6 code. A number of scenarios will need to be run, and data will be need to be presented back to the EA.
A key part of the project is updating the model to MODFLOW6 code; this is a fairly new code and therefore there won't be a wealth of pre and post processing tools available.
