Description
Defra would like to invite suppliers to a meeting on 18th March 2020 in Central London to discuss their plans to run an Occupancy project in some of their buildings.
The aim of this is to ensure that our forthcoming tender is aligned to the market and has realistic expectations.
Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) is seeking a means to more accurately calculate space occupancy and utilisation to ensure we do not breach fire or welfare regulations whilst striving to accommodate all our customers. In order to do this accurately we must understand the number of people in an office at a given period of time (occupancy) as well as how often the office is used, by whom and for what purpose (utilisation). Knowing both metrics is critical to assure accuracy in forecasting space required to support our customers; budgeting; and future opportunities to cut costs, services etc.
Historically we have utilised contractors to manually record utilisation of a building, marking down attendance, counting heads, noting what people are doing and where, which is both laborious, intrusive and delivers data that quickly becomes dated and obsolete. We are now seeking to implement software driven technology which will allow us to visualise footfall in real time and provide the ability to report on actual space use. This technology will allow us to determine if our space is being utilised safely & efficiently; if employee needs are being met by their environment, and if there is an opportunity to upgrade or downsize to increase productivity or decrease cost.
Currently we are expecting to deliver 2-3 installations per year across this contract though this is subject to change depending on varying government pressures
If you can deliver this kind of project for us please come to our supplier engagement day - to register please email Elizabeth.davies@defra.gov.uk and you will be sent further details
