Description

Project Scope:
The Hull UK City of Culture team is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, companies or consortia to work with us to deliver a major programme of arts commissioning.
The project is a year-long intervention into the buildings, streets and spaces of Hull through a co-commissioning programme that will see Hull transformed into a playground for both artists and audience.

Artists and architects will be invited to create work that alters the city in some way, shifting perceptions of the place, turning the familiar into something strange and wonderful, playful and celebratory. Commissions will be broad ranging and may include sound design, lighting installations, digital work and interactive pieces as well as sculptural architectural interventions.

Hull will become a destination for art lovers looking to experience this new urban outdoor gallery. It will be a key project within the visual arts programme for Hull UK City of Culture 2017, free and open to all. We anticipate that the programme will include 6 to 12 individual commissions, with a phased installation with most of the work installed by summer 2017.

Role of delivery Partner:

Hull UK City of Culture 2017 is looking to appoint a delivery partner to act as Project Manager and delivery lead for the project.

Reporting to Hull 2017 Executive Producer and with all creative decisions made in consultation with the Hull 2017 Director and Executive Producer, the delivery partner will be responsible for

• Working with Hull 2017 to bring existing commissions to completion
• Creating new and using existing and networks to develop potential commissions
• Identifying (in consultation with Hull 2017) potential co-commissioning partners
• Working with local partners to identify sites for activity
• Working with Hull 2017 and Hull City Council to secure planning permissions
• Project managing the commissions from inception to delivery and on to project closure
• Ensuring best value for money at all times, that all projects remain within budget and are delivered within the timeframes set
• Managing day to day relationships with co-commissioning partners, artists and other key relationships as set by Executive Producer
• Helping develop a marketing and communications strategy for the project
• Developing an education and engagement strategy for the project
• Leading on any evaluation required by partners and funders
• Installation and derig and where necessary reinstatement of installation sites.
• The contract will run until all installations have been removed and sites have been reinstated (expected to be end of January 2018)
