The existing North East prison health contracts were let for three years with an option to extend by a further two. The contracts are currently in the second year with the third year of the contract completing by March 31 2018.
Commissioners are required to advise NHS England Directors of the options for either extending the existing contracts or re-tendering services. This will include providing and receiving feedback in relation to potential contractual models should services be re-tendered.
This event will enable Commissioners to understand current market forces, interest and to inform future commissioning intentions.
Aims of the Market Engagement Event
1. Understand the current market interest in bidding for prison health care services in the North East, and;
2. Obtain views on prospective contracting models
There will be brief presentations from Commissioners, NOMS Commissioners and a NE prison Governor
There will be an opportunity to ask questions on the presentations and providers will be asked to complete a proforma on the day which will collate views on whether they would be interested in bidding for the business, which models they would prefer and why.
