About the Opportunity:
Background: The Better Futures Innovation Vouchers provide funding for SMEs on the Better Future Programme enabling the SMEs to work with an expert from a research entity bringing new knowledge into the company to help businesses innovate, develop and grow. Typical services offered to SMEs could include:
• Ideas for new or improved products, processes and services
• Product and service testing
• Access to information and expertise on new materials
• Tapping into research and scientific expertise
The Innovation Vouchers will be up to £5,000 in value and its aim is to promote new collaborations between SMEs and a research entity.
The contracting process is being managed by Imperial Consultants, a subsidiary of Imperial College London. Imperial Consultants will contract with the individuals or organisations to deliver the innovation vouchers.

This opportunity:
Our client is a start-up company which has developed software which controls a battery's fast charging process and produces a reduction in charge time. The company have demonstrated the software's effectiveness using real batteries with the software running on desktop-level performance computing equipment.
They are looking for an expert in low-computational-power hardware design to help develop a charger for power tools. This work will entail modifying a power charger by embedding the software within the charger's hardware and integrated circuits.
Responses are sought from individuals from Knowledge Bases, defined under the ERDF Definition of a Research Entity: Higher Education, Further Education and Research Entities which are: UK Public Sector Research Establishments, Research and Development Organisations, Research and Technology Organisations.
Assessment criteria are as follows:
• Applicant from a research entity (pass/fail)
• The fit of the expertise to solve the company's need, as assessed by Imperial Consultants and the SME.
• The proposed solution and the outputs to be provided.
• Availability.
• Value for money.
As assessed by Imperial Consultants & SME
The contracting process is being managed by Imperial Consultants (I C Consultants Ltd), a subsidiary of Imperial College London. Imperial Consultants will contract with the individuals or organisations to deliver the innovation vouchers.
