Description

The proposed works will involve decommissioning the existing optic and installing a new LED optic system, as well as refurbishment and redecoration of the tower and mess facilities in the control block. The redundant engines and diesel tank are all to be removed. The existing lens is to be left in its current position, permanently shrouded, with the new optics positioned in front of the old lens. More specifically, the main items of work listed below:

1.Establish temporary navigation optic (NLB technicians)
2.Land all materials and equipment by NLB ship & helicopter
3.Carry out asbestos survey of all NLB-owned property
4.Strip out all redundant electrical and mechanical equipment including engines and fuel tank
5.Refurbish existing welfare facilities
6.Repairs to glazed brickwork and corroded beams in tower
7.Redecorate internally and externally as per bill items
8.Install new domestic lighting
9.Install new optic system
10.Commission all electrical installations
11.Refurbishment of dilapidated boat landing (provisional item)
12.Prepare loads for final uplift by NLB ship & helicopter

For this project NLB Ship and Helicopter will be available to land materials at the start and end of the project, but will not provide transport to the island for personnel. The contractor must make his own arrangements for transporting personnel to site by boat.

A site visit will be conducted on Monday 12 June 2017 for this project. Please note access to the site is by boat, sea conditions and other factors may dictate that the date of the site visit may change at short notice.
