Description

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) is one of five Priority Places in London, as designated by Arts Council England (ACE). Priority Places are areas where investment and engagement in the arts have historically been low, yet significant opportunities exist for impactful cultural development. This project seeks to strengthen Barking and Dagenham's cultural infrastructure by establishing a new arts centre - Galleon Arts Centre - to aid the borough's cultural development and support creative practitioners.

Following the closure of the arts centre under previous ownership in 2023, the Arts Council and Barking and Dagenham Council have supported the continuation of a core cultural programme. The next phase of development will build on this to fully re-activate the centre as a vibrant, financially sustainable space that supports access to cultural activities for local people and acts as a resource for the creative and artistic community in the borough.

The Council intends to award the contract to a supplier who meet the council's requirements
