Description

The second phase of work on the prostate cancer cost-effectiveness model will build on the initial efforts update a suitable prostate cancer cost effectiveness model, focusing on further evaluation and development of the model to influence screening programmes.
To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of PSA-based screening for all men aged 45-70- and 45-75-year-old, with the frequency of testing stratified by individual risk calculated from an initial PSA, age, ethnicity, and family history (e.g., initially yearly for high-risk and 3-5 yearly for low-risk men).
To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of prostate cancer screening programmes for men between the age of 50-69 years with a Charlson Comorbidity Index (≤3) using the Stockholm3 blood test.

The delivery will also explore:
• a screening programme for prostate cancer for men aged 45-70 who have a first-degree rela-tive diagnosed with prostate, breast or ovarian cancer (relevant family history)
• a screening programme in black men aged 45 - 70
• a screening programme in BRCA2 carriers
The prostate cancer screening model developed and owned by the University of Sheffield was deemed the most independent and suitable option for achieving the project's deliverables.
Contract value: £127,400 exclusive of VAT. £152,880 inclusive of VAT
Term: 7 months up to 31/072025 with the option to extend for up to 6 months to the discretion of the authority.
