Description

The BFI's Conservation Centre in Berkhamsted currently utilises five temporary buildings in its grounds which house a large amount of paper records as well as equipment, critical spares and personnel. The temporary buildings were installed to take the increase in staffing for a major project which took place from 1998 to 2003 but have remained in use following the completion of the project.

This tender and works concerns itself with the removal of Temporary Buildings 1 (200sqm) & 5 (160sqm), minor building works and refurbishment of Stills Posters and Design area (SP&D) on Level 1 in the Conservation Centre to create a new Archive Technology hub and restack SPD and Film Conservation to improve adjacencies, and the creation of a Paper Conservation area/Research area. The approximate area requiring refurbishment is 250sqm.

The aim of this project is to incorporate this office capacity into the main building as well as bringing operation benefits.

Works will commence between April & May 2020 and approximate budget £275,000.
