Description

The Council is seeking providers to assist with delivery of the EU funded Innovation to Push Offshore Wind Energy Regions (Inn2POWER) Project until 30th October 2020. The Inn2POWER project will provide targeted support measures to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and support collaborations on a regional, sectoral and transnational level. Thus Inn2POWER helps SMEs to overcome possible structural disadvantages and to realise their full innovation potential.

The offshore wind industry (OWI) is an important driver for economic development in the North Sea Region (NSR) but is challenged by the need for further cost reductions, continuous innovation and improved acceptance of the industry. In order to secure growth in the OWI around the North Sea Region SMEs need to play a key role in tackling those challenges. SMEs represent a high percentage of the industry and can be highly innovative, offering unique capabilities based on their specialised skills, drive and flexibility.

The outcomes required include the provision of business support activity and report writing services across the County of Kent, together with developing and producing a regional logistics optimisation strategy. The provider will not necessarily require specific offshore wind energy expertise as they will be expected to work closely with the Council's Sustainable Business Programme Manager; however a clear record of success in engaging and working with businesses is vital.
