Description

The anticipated requirement is for the ad-hoc repatriation of passengers from the juxtaposed Eurotunnel controls in Coquelles, France to Folkestone in the UK. It is likely that this would require short-notice and quick turnaround of service delivery and therefore, geographical location in relation to the Channel tunnel of the supplier is important.

Border Force are scoping for local appetite for such a service and delivery costs.

Transportation would be required to take the driver(s) and passenger(s) of seized / detained vehicles, and their associated baggage, to the mainland UK.

It is not possible to provide a specific numbers of repatriations or times when the service is required, given the unpredictable nature of the travelling public.

- The repatriations are likely to be required at short notice, with an average of 3 repatriations per week throughout the year (based on recent figures);
- Each repatriation can be between 1 - 16 persons;
- There may be odd occasions when there may be more than 16 persons;
- The service would be required to run 24/7 and 365 days per year;
- A telephone response facility would be needed to run 24/7, 365.

The following notice/ response to instigate the service is required:

If supplier is in France:

- Within one (1) hour from notification until arrival at the juxtaposed controls at Coquelles for 1 -16 persons;
- Within four (4) hours from notification if arriving from France and arriving at Coquelles for groups of seventeen (17) or more persons;

If supplier is in the UK:

- Within one (1) hour from notification for attendance at Cheriton (UK mainland side of the Channel Tunnel), and able to depart on the next available shuttle to Coquelles - subject to Euro-Tunnel allocation for 1-16 persons;
- Within four (4) hours from notification for arrival at Cheriton (UK mainland side of the Channel Tunnel), and able to depart on the next available shuttle to Coquelles - subject to Euro-Tunnel allocation for groups of seventeen (17) or more persons.

Border Force will not accompany passengers on either journey and as such, they will become the responsibility of the supplier to ensure they are safely returned to the UK (Folkestone).

- Please advise as whether it is feasible to meet the time requirements;
- Please provide costs based on the above requirements per return journey;
- Please do not include the cost of the channel crossing within your costings;
