Description
1.1.1 Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has ambitions to significantly increase the number of new homes built in Rotherham. To help achieve this, the Council is piloting the use of modern methods of construction as a swifter and more efficient way to deliver new homes.
The Council is seeking tender returns from housing providers using MMC to deliver a pilot project which will consist of ten small 'pod' type homes for single person households requiring affordable accommodation.
Two sites have been identified (site plans provided as supplementary documents) and will be made available for the pilot. The contract will consist of an NEC contract.
Lot 1 - Vine Close, Four units
Lot 2 - Chatham Street, Doncaster Gate, six units
It is important to note that the approved contractor will be responsible also for managing and delivering all elements of the project.
Lots It is possible for developers to choose to bid for one, or both of the lots. The lots consist of the following:
Please note that where bidders are applying for 2 lots, then the pricing schedule must be completed for both separate lots.
This is identified as a pilot scheme which the Council hopes to roll out as a larger programme, depending on the success of this pilot.
The new homes will be added to Council stock and will be developed on Council land.
Once the successful contractor has been identified, the Council will tender for a main contractor to oversee the ground works, utilities and delivery of the units. The housing provider will form one of the companies which the main contractor will manage to coordinate the overall delivery of this scheme.
