Description
To establish a national contract to administer a short course of G-CSF to volunteer unrelated stem cell donors who have consented to undergo stimulated Peripheral Blood Stem Cell collection.The coverage is principally England and Wales however the contract requirement also includes Scotland and Northern Ireland (whole of the United Kingdom).
Administer G-CSF to stem cell donors as prescribed by a BBMR(British bone marrow registry) Collection Centre.Designated Medical Practitioner using LET45; as Lenograstim, Granocyte ® (Chugai) for the first 3 or 4 days of the short course.Perform a pregnancy test (as per manufactures instructions) on all female donors of childbearing potential prior to the first G-CSF injection. G-CSF is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breast feeding. Female donors are to be counseled to avoid pregnancy before the first G-CSF injection and until after stem cell donation procedure.The contractor will provide a Pharmacy Service to the BBMR that logistically supplies the G-CSF and facilitates the G-CSF administration to BBMR donors at home, anywhere within the United Kingdom.The contractor will provide an ad hoc phlebotomy service to the BBMR.
