Description

The Department is looking to procure a sole national provider (or consortium of providers) to design and produce an online 'Sustainability Leadership in Education' support hub to enable the design, development, and implementation of climate action plans. The online hub will support this by allowing education settings to self-assess their sustainability confidence and expertise and prompt next steps, further training, and additional resources. These plans will facilitate a holistic approach to sustainability in education, covering key action in decarbonisation, adaptation, and resilience to climate-related risks to education services, green infrastructure/biodiversity, and climate education and green careers.

The online service will also serve to ingest data from DfE systems (including but not limited to non-sensitive education setting-based information and Scope 1 & 2 energy usage, plus selected Scope 3 emissions categories such as purchasing and supply chain information, waste and travel data, and climate/ flooding risk) therefore will require a future-proofed ability to provide this function when required. The platform will collate and analyse this data to form sector-wide benchmarks and provide insights to inform both future DfE policies and setting- specific climate action plans, allowing for setting data comparisons to be presented to the user in an easily understandable format. Frequency and format will be agreed with the provider following contract commencement depending on data collection vehicles and other data collection elements.

The support hub will provide guidance to improve capability and confidence for individual settings to embed climate change and sustainability in their operational and educational activities, while the data feed and comparison information will provide further insight on where to focus action in order to make the most effective changes with support from the Sector Engagement and Support Service (SESS).

The formal Call for Competition will be conducted via the Department for Education's Jaggaer e-Tendering Portal. You can view the itt by cutting and pasting this link https://education.app.jaggaer.com/web/login.html then clicking view opportunities.
