Description
The work is to provide a service to ensure the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems in accordance with the revised Approved Code of Practice for the Control of Legionella - ACOP L8, Approve Code of Practice and Guidance, British Standard BS 8580:2010 and HSG274 part 2. In addition, the contractor shall be required to carry out minor remedial repairs arising from the risk assessment survey reports. The works shall include: -
i) Carry out a risk assessment survey and scheme of control for each property to ascertain the possible risk of legionellosis and including legionnaires disease in the communal hot & cold water system.
ii) Carryout annual inspection of each system to ensure that it reflects the risk assessment of the site and maintained in compliance with ACOPL8.
iii) Carryout monthly temperature monitoring of the communal hot and cold water system.
iv) Carryout microbiological testing of the hot and cold water system within cold water tank and calorifiers.
v) Carryout annual servicing of TMV's and cleaning of shower heads within dwellings forming part of a sheltered accommodation and hostel
vi) Execute remedial works identified within the risk assessment report for each property.
iii) Health and Safety remedial works for each property shall also be identified within the risk assessment survey to ascertain the provision of safe access for maintenance (ie ladders, hatches, lighting, boarding, hand rails etc). However it is anticipated that these works will be carried out by others. It is a requirement that suitable contractors must be fully certified/accredited with the Legionella Control Association(LCA). The requirement for full accreditation must include been certified both as a service provider and consultancy.
