Description

The project is part of the Future High Street fund works to improve Fargate, which is a prominent pedestrianised street within Sheffield City Centre and adjacent to the Town Hall. The building will be converted from commercial use to a mixed-use facility, with an event space for live music located within the basement, flexible multiuse, Makers Space and entrance spaces on the ground, first and second floors and co working office space on the third and fourth floors. Works will include alterations to internal walls and partitions, new external and internal doors, new sanitary provision, structural alterations, upgrading of building fabric to improve sustainability performance, new windows, upgraded roof coverings and PV installations, remodelling of the existing staircases and installation of a new lift. The existing entrance and facade will be remodelled; a glazed recessed entrance space will be created. Significant works are required within the basement, including a tanking treatment to prevent water ingress to the events area. Finishes and fittings will be incorporated within the scheme, although some elements will be completed by the eventual occupiers. The services will be upgraded to provide suitable provision for the operation of the events space, office working areas and multiuse levels, which will include a small bar. External events space will be developed adjacent to the building in Fargate; these external works will be carried out separately.
