Description

NHS Health Education England (HEE - the Commissioner) are looking to engage an organisation that will provide Leadership Programme for Surgical Trainees.

The School of Surgery seeks a provider to assist in delivery of educational content that relates directly to the professional behaviours agenda set out in the Generic Professional Capabilities (GPC) framework published by the GMC in 2017. The new surgical curricula published by the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Project (ISCP) in August 2021 describe specific competency outcomes to be achieved in a variety of domains within leadership and management and a comprehensive programme of activity that attends to the needs of surgical trainees in all Phases (1-3) of postgraduate surgical training is required.

It is anticipated that the programme will comprise a blended learning approach with use of the HEE Postgraduate Virtual Learning Environment (PGVLE) as the preferred digital learning platform. The programme will culminate in the option of participation in a dedicated, bespoke course for senior trainees (Specialty Trainee 7-8) for those who wish to develop this area of practice as a sub-specialty, non-clinical practice during a Consultant Surgeon career. It is expected that such a programme will produce considerable potential benefits to both surgical services in the region and ultimately the wider NHS and patient care.

The maximum financial envelope for this procurement exercise is £250,000 inclusive of Vat (£50,000 inc. Vat per year). The contract period will be for 1 year with the option to extend by up to a further four years (1+1+1+1) subject to annual review and available budget.

The deadline for submission of completed ITT submissions is 7th August 2021 at 12:00pm (midday). Late submissions will not be accepted therefore, please submit in good time prior to the deadline date and time. All communications should be made via the messaging function on the e-Tendering portal during the tender exercise.

The Contracting Authority requests that all communications are channelled through the e-portal system and not with the Contracting Authority itself other than as expressly permitted within this ITT.
