Description

Worcestershire Council is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices. The council has identified the installation of a solar carport at County Hall, Worcester, as a potential project to support this objective.

The aim of the solar carport is to provide shade for parked vehicles while generating electricity from solar panels mounted on the carport structure.

By utilizing solar energy, the solar carport can provide a renewable source of power for County Hall, the Councils largest administrative building, reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

Overall, the aim of the solar carport is to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly practices while providing an economic benefit to the Council by offsetting the primary energy use of the site at Worcestershire Council Offices.

The Council has carried out a high-level feasibility study identifying any constraints.
The Council is now hereby inviting suppliers to submit a proposal that takes into account these constraints and offers the maximum return on investment.
The successful proposal will be used to inform the business case to Council to seek Capital Funding.
Should the Cabinet approval be granted the Council will enter negotiations with the selected supplier to conclude a contract to undertake the works.
The council recognises this is an emerging market and suppliers have bespoke solutions to deliver the required outcomes. It has therefore designed as much flexibility and this minimum constraints into this procurement process.
