267/EML/N/15 Machine Tool Monitoring Equipment

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for supply to the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre's Nuclear Group based at Catcliffe, Rotherham.

Scope of Requirement:

The Nuclear AMRC is undertaking research within various manufacturing topics in the energy sector. One of the research themes is investigating 'On Machine Inspection'. In order to support this research theme a laser interferometer measuring system, for machine tool monitoring, is required.

The system should be capable of simultaneously monitoring several machine types i.e. standard machine tools and large CMM's. The system should allow the machine to perform a quick geometry check prior to the machine being used for an inspection. These geometry checks should be traceable to a national standard.
