Description
This is a Prior Information Notice for the issue of tender documents.
The tender will require the contractor to carry out heritage conservation, renovation and alternation works to a cluster of Grade II* Listed buildings at King Edward Mine Museum, near Camborne, in Cornwall.
The contractor will be required to demonstrate a good track record for undertaking conservation works of a similar scale to Grade II* Listed buildings, the equivalent heritage significance or above. The tender assessment will include a quality evaluation reflecting this.
The contract will be JCT2011 SBC/Q including Bills of Quantities
The Invitation to Tender (ITT) will be issued on or around 8th June 2015. There will be a six week tender period.
The contractor will be required to carry out a major restoration and adaptation of two Grade II* Listed buildings on English Heritage's Heritage at Risk Register (the Boiler House and the Assay Office complex), and refurbish the Mill complex and other core buildings that form the 'museum complex'.
Key works to include:
- Extensive restoration and refurbishment of Assay Office and new build extension
- Conservation of the Boiler House and adaptation as a new exhibition space
- Reroofing and other works to Mill complex
- Minor repairs to other core buildings
- Stabilisation and access improvements to South Condurrow Stamps Engine House
- Ground thermal installation to Events Field and resurfacing as overflow car park
