AQP for Non-Scalpel Vasectomy Service (January 2016 Window) for Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group (LC CCG), East Leicestershire & Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (ELR CCG) and West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (WL CCG)

Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (Arden & GEM CSU) on behalf of Leicester City CCG, East Leicestershire & Rutland CCG and West Leicestershire CCG are seeking suitably qualified and experienced providers for a Non-Scalpel Vasectomy Service.
The service will provide a quality and safe one or two stage, non-scalpel technique vasectomy under local anaesthetic in accordance with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RCOG) guidelines, in a primary care setting to all adult males who request it, are of sound mind, not acting under external duress and are registered with a General Practitioner (GP) in Leicester City CCG, East Leicestershire and Rutland CCG or West Leicestershire CCG. Providers should have local strategies in place for providing information to both clients and professionals on the choices available within the service and on access to the service.
The aims and objectives of this service are:
• To provide high quality, cost effective, local community vasectomy services
• To provide services that comply with accepted best practice in line with national and local guidance, relevant accreditations processes, relevant guidelines in clinical practice and robust governance arrangements
• To provide a complete holistic service user focussed care package including pre and post-operative care, information, advice and counselling
• To provide an opportunity for men's health promotion
• To ensure consistent and continuous care between health professionals, effective and efficient communication
• To improve access and convenience for service users
• To improve service user choice
Any provider will be eligible to join a list of qualified providers subject to demonstrating competency against the authority's specified criteria, subject to assessment. The list will be open to new entrants to the market and previous unsuccessful applicants. The successful providers will be expected to sign the standard NHS contract, accepting all terms and conditions. It should be noted that under the Any Qualified Provider model, there will be no guarantees of volume or payment in the contracts awarded. This contract will be until 31st March 2017.
