Description

The Department for Education is looking to fund a service from April 2019, for three years, to provide support local areas to build their capacity and capability to respond effectively to safeguarding challenges to young people related to child sexual exploitation and other extra-familial threats. These threats include, but are not limited to, child sexual exploitation (CSE), child criminal exploitation (CCE) including gangs and offending activity, county lines, trafficking and model slavery of children.
This procurement is being run through Bravo, the e-Procurement system for the department. Bidders will need to register with Bravo at https://education.bravosolution.co.uk/web/login.shtml
Some local areas in England are developing effective interventions for those young people at risk but other areas need support of various kinds. The challenge for many is developing an appropriate multiagency safeguarding response to protect vulnerable young people. Child sexual exploitation and other extra-familial threats to young people can be inter-linked and often experienced at the same time so addressing them together is more likely to be effective. These threats and forms of child exploitation are complex an are not confined to any one local area or region. The support areas require will depend on the local context. It could be strategic, operational or knowledge expertise, or a combination of these types of support.
The Department for Education wishes to engage a supplier to provide a resource that will support professionals and agencies in local areas in working together. The aim is to make sure that areas are equipped to respond effectively to risks and threats to their young people, both arising in their area as well as in other parts of the country linked by exploitation activity.
