Description
Exeter City Council (ECC) are constructing a 1.2MWp (c3,500 panel) solar farm on Council owned land at postcode EX2 8DX (Grid reference SX 92606 90761). The site is a closed inert landfill site and covers an area of 5.5 acres.
Planning permission has recently been granted for the solar farm construction project, and funding has also been secured. The site has largely been cleared of vegetative growth, and work is currently underway to capture and translocate a range of reptiles that are present on the site. Once the site has been released for development by the Project Ecologist, the site will requires some preparatory work to enable design and construction of the solar farm to begin. Exeter City Council now needs to appoint a Ground Works Contractor to undertake these preparatory works in the latter half of 2020.
