Description
The Environment Agency is seeking offers from suitable organisations for the delivery of a targeted strategic campaign about the impacts of macro plastics to the environment and health of the rivers and seas across the North West.
The Macro Plastics North West Project is part of the Natural Course EULife funded programme. Natural Course aims to build capacity to protect and improve the North West water environment, now and for the future.
Globally and Nationally plastic pollution is an increasing problem for both flora and fauna in the fresh water and marine environment. The reliance on plastics in terms of manufacturing has caused limited consumer choice when purchasing goods. The volumes of plastic used across the North West River Basin District has caused negative impacts to the environment. Research is ongoing internationally and nationally about the effects and solutions to the problem.
A wide range of local groups exist focusing on delivering campaigns such as Avoid, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle. However, inconsistency's with campaign material, key messages and communication styles potentially limit the impact that groups have. In addition, a wide range of different audiences utilise plastics in a range of ways and each audience requires a different level of information in order to make a positive change.
The strategic aim of the project is to:
Deliver a targeted strategic campaign about the impacts of plastics to the environment and health of the rivers and seas across North West England focusing on pathways from source to sea.
The project will deliver 2 objectives:
1. To design and deliver a targeted awareness campaign
2. To design, deliver and maintain a public information Web Forum
A single organisation will be awarded the contract. The successful bidder must be able to provide evidence of successfully delivering similar projects, including strong stakeholder engagement skills.
