Description

We are seeking proposals from artists to create a village trail of artworks for the lovely village of Benson.

Using funds from new developments in the village, we would like to use an art project to bring existing communities and new communities together.

We have devised this project trail through both new developments and historic parts of the village celebrate different elements of Bensons history and add interest to our public open spaces. The trail will consist of about 6 locations throughout the village. These locations should highlight significant historical landmarks, points of interest, and public open spaces.

There is a broad scope for materials. Materials for the artworks could be wood, stone or metal, but should be sympathetic to each location and must consider materials that are durable and weather-resistant to ensure longevity and minimal maintenance.

There is a budget of £105,000 to cover all aspects of the project including research and design, community engagement, design, fabrication, delivery, and installation.

We are searching for locally based artists to work with us on this exciting project. We are seeking Expressions of Interest submitted to us by noon on Friday 7th June 2024 to clerk@bensonpc.org.uk and include the following;
• Images of your previous works
• an indicative proposal of what you offer this project with estimated costs and time frame (full proposals are not necessary at this stage)
• references from past commissioners
and
• an indication that you have the appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance and DBS checks.
Shortlisted artists may be invited for interviews or presentations to further discuss their proposals, after which we will apply for funding to make this exciting project happen.
