Description
This notice relates to the Homes and Communities Agency's site at Queenborough and Rushenden, located on Rushenden Road, Queenborough. The site is circa 10ha and has been remediated and cleared of all underground obstructions by an earlier ground works contract. The site is required to be land raised by circa 2m depth for flood protection purposes and the site is subject to a detailed planning consent for this purpose.
The site has been fully prepared for land raising by the installation of band drains penetrating to the full depth of the alluvial deposits below ground level at regular centres across the site in accordance with the original land raise design parameters, and is therefore ready to receive the deposition of imported material.
This notice is for a design and build contract for the source identification and importation of suitable land raising material, deposition and compaction of this material to the required specification and surcharging with additional material together with all appropriate monitoring and testing during the process. The client is amenable to the site being operated under an Environmental Permit, but would prefer clean / inert material to be sourced via CL:aire Code of Practice. The land raise material will need to be monitored for a period of at least a year to ensure that settlement is occurring in accordance with the designed material specification.
The contractor would be expected to work closely with the appointed engineer to the contract, who will be monitoring the works, and the contractor is to undertake all testing and settlement monitoring to ensure compliance with the contract specification. The client will also undertake their own independent spot testing of the works.
The contract is to be a zero-value contract where the value of the imported material to the contractor is sufficient to cover the costs of all placing, compaction and testing of the material and all necessary reporting to the client."
Additional CPV descriptions include 45112320 - Land-reclamation work, 45112350 - Reclamation of wasteland and 14212400 - Soil.
