Description
People in our poorest Sheffield neighbourhoods are dying around a decade earlier than people in the wealthiest areas and are spending more of their life in poor health. They also have more complex poor health as they are affected by multiple health conditions at an earlier age. Nearly a quarter of the small neighbourhoods in Sheffield are in the most deprived 10% nationally, and the five most deprived wards are Firth Park, Southey, Burngreave, Manor Castle, and Park & Arbourthorne. The map below shows in dark blue where the most deprived small neighbourhoods are located. This programme of work aims to ensure that the NEN work has the greatest possible impact and the greatest possible legacy. This programme of work includes three streams of work that are complementary and will run simultaneously: 1. Developing collaborative attitudes, skills and behaviours among those involved in the NEN work, 2. Enabling a shift across Public Services and VCS in Sheffield towards more collaborative organisational cultures, 3. Supporting wider Sheffield VCS capability building, focussing on organisations with historical underinvestment who have the potential to mature as community anchors. Workstream 1 and 2 will be commissioned to a single lead organisation as per this service specification. Workstream 3 is not part of this service specification. It involves grant funding and will be overseen by a diverse steering group supported by VAS. It will focus on a cohort of up to 25 VCS organisations, which have been historically underinvested in, and aims to build capability and enable them to mature as Community Anchors. The Council will be holding a supplier engagement event to support this exercise between 11am -12pm on Monday 22nd July 2024. Suppliers who wish to attend should register their interest directly with the Council via email to adam.elwis@sheffield.gov.uk by no later than 12:00pm on Wednesday 17th July 2024.
