Description

The University of Leeds is one of the UK's leading universities, with a reputation for excellent teaching and outstanding research. As a Civic University, we want an estate that is functional, aesthetically pleasing and demonstrates the quality and values of the University.

Following the principles of a restricted process, the University would like to invite outline design and fee proposals from suitably qualified and experienced Landscape Architect's for a major new square, pedestrianised street and accessible pathways into and through a 9 acre cemetery, namely St George's Field.

The proposed landscaping project will be delivered in three phases in three phases:-

Phase 1: The upgrading of existing pathways and the development of new accessible routes within St Georges Field (The Field)

Phase 2: The creation of a new square (The Square) adjacent to the southern entrance of The Field through the demolition of (part) Geography east building.

Phase 3: The pedestrianisation of University Road from the Clothworker's link bridge in the east to the vehicle barrier in the west (University Road).

The phases will be progressed subject to available budgets.

Following the initial selection stage, the 4 highest scoring bidders will be taken forward to a final ITT Stage 2 design competition stage. This stage will require the bidders to present their worked up design to a panel of key stakeholders. Using the criteria and weightings stated, the panel will select the most economically advantageous design. The three unsuccessful bidders will be awarded a sum of £1,000 as a contribution towards their costs (subject to meeting the criteria set out at paragraph 3.7 below.
