Description

Fylde Council is a progressive Local Authority located on the Lancashire coast and is a major tourism destination attracting around 3 million visitors per annum, which places the role of the borough's green spaces high on our agenda. The authority has a proven track record of delivering high standards of parks management and grounds maintenance which results in numerous annual quality awards. The borough contains 6 Green Flag award winning parks.
The Council has successfully secured a £1.47m grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the restoration and improvement of Fairhaven Lake & Gardens, which is a major park and marine lake of regional significance directly on the coast. The park consists of a 10-hectare marine leisure lake, historic gardens laid out by Thomas H Mawson and Sons, a wide range of sport and recreational facilities together with a traditional lakeside café. The site plays host to the RSPB Discovery Centre on the gateway to the Ribble Estuary, one of the most important sites for bird life in Europe and a designated Ramsar site.
The Council wishes to appoint a main contractor to deliver the majority of construction works included within the overall restoration project, namely heritage building refurbishments and a series of landscape works around the park.
