Description

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) (the "Trust"), Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BWCH) (the "Trust"),The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (ROH) (the "Trust"), Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (S&WBH) (the "Trust") and University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHBFT) (the "Trust") is seeking to award a contract for the provision of a pan-Birmingham Decontamination Service to include the transport, reprocessing and delivery of decontaminated reusable medical devices in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for use

The successful Bidder will be required to provide decontamination facilities that must be open and operational for sufficient time to ensure that instruments meet their turnaround configuration and the successful Bidder is able to meet their obligations in respect to manufacturer's instructions for use and legislation as referenced in the specification.

The current service seeks to achieve this through frequent collections of contaminated instruments, reprocessing and returning decontaminated instruments back to defined Primary or Secondary Delivery Points at times agreed with users.

The successful bidder must ensure all instruments are currently collected, reprocessed and returned to users within the turnaround times specified.

The term of the contract will be fifteen (15) years from service commencement extendable by up to a maximum of a further thirty-six (36) months at the Trusts request. It is estimated the contract will commence on 1 April 2024.
