Description

NPL is looking to upgrade the control componentry for three deadweight force standard machines (2.5 kN, 20 kN, 120 kN capacities). The systems are being refurbished to interface with new LabVIEW control software (written in-house by NPL staff) and to enhance long-term maintainability. As part of this process, all control items are being assessed for their current performance and state of obsolescence.

NPL is seeking competitive quotes for the supply of hardware and a hardware system design document for each machine independently. There is no interfacing between machines. The sequence of upgrades will be the 2.5 kN first, followed by the 120 kN machine, and finally the 20 kN. The hardware for each machine will be installed and fully commissioned by NPL staff before the supply of hardware for the next machine upgrade.

NPL staff will install the equipment into an equipment cabinet and commission the system, concurrent with the commissioning of the NPL-written control software.
