Description

This is a tender for the supply, delivery, commissioning and user training of Dual purpose laser cutter capable of plastic cutting and metal cutting. This machine will be integrated into current facilities available in the Electronics and Computer Science Department (located within the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Engineering, at the Highfield Campus in Southampton). It will be used to expand the breadth of machining capabilities and technologies currently at the University and stimulate new research ties across multiple University campuses. The acquisition of this new machine will further engender new collaborative research across the University and will enable University researchers to tackle fundamental problems across any discipline where manufactured components may be required in order to conduct experiments or technical analysis. In addition with the merging Enterprise community within the Faculty is will enable bespoke manufacturing to support and increase Faculty led entrepreneurial activities.

The Purpose of the Equipment
To support research, education and enterprise activities within the Electronics and Computer Science department based in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. It will enable rapid turnaround \"in house' of components for students, academics and researchers. The dual purpose nature of the cutter will provide a greater breadth of materials that can be used in the production of components for new developments and their applications.
Primary Hardware
Supply and install a of Dual purpose laser cutter capable of plastic cutting and metal cutting This should include all the hardware necessary to extract fumes and particles as a by-product of the cutting process.

Required Software
Machine operation software must be compatible with industry standard design software such as AutoCad and CorelDRAW.

Machine is required to at least cut metal foil.
