Description

Birmingham City Council requires a supplier for the provision of the collection of daily attendance, exclusion data and annual assessment data for Birmingham Children in Care which support over 1100 children attending educational settings within the city, excluding alternative providers. These children range from Reception to Post 16 and have been in care for a varying amount of time.

The focus for the Virtual School is to improve the life chances of all the Children in Care. This is about ensuring the young people are attending, engaged with and succeeding in education in order that they can become independent and successful adults.

The three teams in the Virtual School are listed below:

o North and Central - Based at New Aston House
o East - Based at Sutton New Road
o South - Based at Lifford House

The successful bidder (Provider) will work on behalf of the local authority to monitor Children In Care every day. This is done by contacting each individual education provision (whether that be mainstream schools, Pupil Referral Unit's, residential homes, Alternative Provision) on a daily basis to determine if a child has gained a registration mark for both the morning and afternoon session. The supplier will collect daily attendance and exclusion data for Birmingham Children in Care attending educational settings within the city, excluding alternative providers. The provider will ensure that their system provides attendance and exclusion data for individuals and groups/cohorts in an easy to access form with the ability to produce reports to support BVS management and staff. This will need to be forwarded in excel format to allow analysis for each individual young person on a daily basis.

This contract will be for a trial period of 12 months commencing mid November 2019 until 31st August 2020, with the option to extend for a further 12 months subject to satisfactory performance.
